Create a Story

Regardless of how much we love our job, there are times we do things we don't want to do.

Text Version:

Hey this is Kirby Hasseman with the Monday Minute.

Can we just be honest for a minute?  Sometimes we need to do things we don’t want to.  There is a famous quote that says “If you find something you love, you will never work another day in your life.”  That’s a bunch of hooey.  Regardless of how much I love what I do (and I really do) sometimes, the trash needs to get taken out and the toilets need cleaned.  Saying I just love that is a lie.

In addition, when we are faced with new tasks, it can be scary too.  We might fail.  We might hate it.  It might not work.

But the story we tell ourselves is so important.  When we are faced with things that we are not as excited about, or quite frankly we are anxious or scared about, let’s try and take a different tact.  What if we look at those as an adventure?  We are doing something new.  We are creating a new skill.  You might even get to meet new people.  These can change something you are dreading to something you are excited about.

In addition, the challenges create good stories.  If you have no problems…you have no story.  When you are running into frustration, just remind yourself  “Well…this is certainly going to be a great story!”

Life really can be an adventure if you choose to look at it this way.  Let’s start this week by creating a great story.  Who knows, you might just create a great life in the process.

Thanks for watching the Monday Minute!
